Applied in One Direction

Several of the drawing mediums were applied to the paper in only one direction using a horizontal motion. Application in only one direction limited the coverage of the medium on the paper resulting in a "speckled" appearance. The pronounced texture of the cold-pressed watercolor paper resulted in a more speckled appearance compared to the less rough texture of the sketch paper. Also, depending on the consistency of the medium coverage varied, with softer mediums such as Conté crayon covering the paper better then harder ones, such as colored pencil.
